About

Jerry Zhou in a navy suit, hands folded on a white table.

I was born in Hangzhou and moved to Arcadia, California when I was four. Growing up between two places taught me to notice things: the detail other people walk past, the light that lasts thirty seconds, the story under the surface.

By day I run Sparko Sweets, the custom lollipop company I founded in Los Angeles and now run with my wife. I lead the brand side: creative direction, photography, e-commerce, and lately the 3D molds our lollipops are shaped from. It's part business, part long experiment in building something people love.

The rest of the time I shoot. Landscapes, night skies, the places I travel to, anything that asks for patience and rewards stillness. Some of it ends up here, in the photographs and the journal.

I studied economics at UCLA and went back for my MBA at Anderson. I think the best creative work has rigorous thinking underneath it.
